This film depicts the never-ending cycle of female suffering. In the film, the protagonist, a young woman, symbolically undergoes the trials and tribulations of puberty, pregnancy, and motherhood. She is ultimately destroyed physically and emotionally by the experience. The film approaches this through traditionally feminine imagery that escalates into more violent, unsettling visuals.
